Course Description: The session will provide opportunities to examine and evaluate values and ethics through a variety of client groups and practice situations. Participants will explore the often-competing values of individuals, groups, and communities. Ethical principles from the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics, and the Codes of Ethics of the National Association of Black Social Workers and the International Federation of Social Workers will be discussed as these apply to the situations identified. The session will explore the benefits and challenges of identifying and applying contextual priorities to decision making in order to enhance ethical competence with clients.

Presented by: Rich Hennicke, MSW, LCSW, ACSW is a graduate of the Saint Louis University School of Social Work. His practice experience includes direct clinical service, supervision and administration with Catholic Charities of St. Louis and its agencies, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, both locally and nationally, and Nurses for Newborns. Rich teaches courses in values and ethics to SLU MSW students as well as to community groups.. In 2009, Rich was recognized by NASW Missouri as Social Worker of the Year and was awarded the Faculty Excellence Award by the Student Government Association in 2013.
