Course Description: This specialized course is designed to prepare licensed social workers with the information and training to become “qualified supervisors for licensure,” as required by the Missouri State Committee for Clinical Social Work. This course meets the needs of social work licensure supervisors in Missouri who must complete a 16 hour supervision course (such as the two day course described here) and who have 5 years of professional social work experience. The content of this 16 hour course follows the requirements of the Association of Social Work Boards and their suggestions for topics and learning experiences. The content of this course applies to all types of licenses.

Presented by: Pamela Huggins, Associate Clinical Professor at the School of Social Work and a BSW and MSW graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia School of Social Work. She worked in health care and social work sites for 15 years both as a supervisor and as a medical social worker. While in practice, she also supervised many social workers as employees, students in field instruction from 4 Schools of Social Work and social workers pursuing licensure in the State of Missouri. For the past 22 years she has been in social work education in leadership, teaching, and practicum liaison roles at 2 universities. She has previously served on national social work test writing boards, national boards, and curriculum boards. Quality supervision for beginning social workers is a special area of interest for her.
